erika & andy | 03.21.09

Erika and Andy planned such a lovely wedding day! Not to mention the weather rocked for a mid-March Saturday in the midwest!! Everything was so well thought out, and every guest in attendance had a wonderful time. They got married at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, and the reception following was at the Indiana Roof Ballroom. That place is incredible. Period. It's gorgeous, it's huge, the decor is awesome, the lighting is incredible, the service is impeccable, and did I mention that it's gorgeous??!! As a photographer, it's a dream to shoot there because of the lighting. For those of you out there that are photographers yourselves, you'll appreciate knowing that most of my reception photos were shot with available light...no flash for the most part! I had a really hard time narrowing these photos down, so there are a TON below!

I'll start things off with my favorite shot of the hardware. While Erika was just starting to get her hair done, I went on a hunt to find a good spot in the salon to do the ring shot! LOVE how this one turned out!

Erika is checking out the progress mid-way through...

Her hair turned out beautiful! Julie at A Do Hair Design did an amazing job!

The fabulous Kiralee did a stunning job (as always) with Erika's makeup! If you are in need of a makeup artist, you MUST call her!

Kiralee uses an airbrush technique which makes me get all excited about how fab my brides' skin look for their pictures!

SEE! Doesn't Erika look awesome??!!

I love little Jade. I snapped so many pictures of her:) She was totally soaking in EVERYTHING about the salon experience.

I didn't do anything to the sky. It was really that awesome. Still can't believe how warm it was considering this past weekend's weather!

Extreme Makeover : Home Edition

I arrived at the Extreme Makeover Home Site before the sun woke up this morning! Things are really moving now with the construction and framing of the house. I encourage you ALL to make it out at least one time this week to witness the craziness first-hand. You can checkout Estridge's website for up-to-date information, as well as spectator information. Today I got to spend a little time with Paige of the Extreme Makeover cast! Below is a photo that her boyfriend took of us with my camera! Paige is a very sweet person and genuinely loves what she's doing! I'll be posting more photos of today's action soon!

Extreme Makeover : Home Edition | Estridge | Demolition Day

It was another exciting day today at the Extreme Makeover Home Site! Aside from the temps being unbelievably cold, the wind blowing like crazy, and a mix of rain and snow, it was another successful day! The main event today was the demolition of the house and I was there to witness it. I was shocked how quickly they leveled the house!

Here's Ty talking to his Ty Cam that shows up in the final production of the show. This is how the family gets to witness the demolition of their home while they're on vacation!

Ty is so involved with the process. He definitely gets down and dirty with all of the construction activity.

This is an interesting piece of the story. I'll let you wait until the show airs on May 17th to learn why this wrecking ball says "knowledge," but needless to say, this thing was dropped on the house. I'll explain how with the photos below...

(0)

This helicopter hovered above the home and dropped a huge chain down to the ground while people on the ground connected the wrecking ball to the helicopter...

Here is the wrecking ball being lifted off of the ground...

(0)

This is the wrecking ball JUST before it hit the roof of the house!

(0)

Once the big trucks got to really go to town on the house, it only took about 5 minutes for it to be completely leveled. Unbelievable!

Here's Ty again as the house is being leveled. I believe he was getting more footage with his Ty Cam.

Almost knocked down. The long, black crain-like structure in the foreground is a jib with camera attached to the end. Ever wondered how they do those awesome fly-over shots when you're watching a tv show? Well, this is how it's done. The camera and jib are being controlled by guys at the base of the jib.

This is the end to an era, and the beginning of something great for the McFarland family...

That's all from today! Tomorrow I'll be there capturing some construction and a press conference! now it's time for some zzzzz's. I haven't been getting many of those lately:)
